Metal braces were once the only way to straighten teeth. Today, technology and techniques have advanced. While we still use metal braces, they aren’t your only option. Invisalign®, a clear aligner therapy, comes with many benefits over traditional braces. How long does the treatment take?
What Is Invisalign?
Invisalign therapy consists of a series of clear, customized plastic trays. The trays move your teeth with gentle force. Every few weeks, you’ll switch out the aligner set as your teeth straighten out. Invisalign treats issues like crowded teeth, overbites, underbites, crossbites, and gaps. Thanks to advanced technology, we’ll show you what your smile will look like after treatment. If your teeth are severely misaligned, we will likely recommend traditional metal braces.
Why Should You Get Invisalign?
Invisalign has many benefits over braces. Because the trays are clear, they’re almost invisible. You don’t have to feel self-conscious about your smile during treatment. The smooth plastic is more comfortable than metal wires and brackets, too. When you eat or brush your teeth, you remove the trays! Keeping your teeth clean is much easier with Invisalign.
How Long Does Invisalign Take?
Invisalign treatment usually takes about 12-18 months. Exact times depend on your specific case. If you have very mild issues, the treatment will go by quickly. You may start to see changes in your smile in just a few weeks! Be sure to wear your trays at least 20-22 hours a day. During treatment, you’ll visit us every few weeks to get your next aligner trays. Our dentists will also make sure everything is going according to plan.
